Give and It Shall Be Given

"The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself." Proverbs 11:25 KJV

The economy of God works quite different than that of the world. The world says take all that you can and can all that you get. We as the people of God operate under different rules than the world. Our verse says before we can be watered we must first water others. God set it up for us givers to others. If you want a blessing then be a blessing to others. I can't help but think of the widow that helped Elijah in I Kings 17:11. The Lord told him to go to Zarephath and a widow would sustain him.

When Elijah arrived at the gate of the city this widow was gathering sticks. Elijah told her to bring him a morsel of bread. She sadly told him all she had was a handful of meal and a little oil. She thought they would eat it and then starve and die. Elijah told her to feed him first and then herself and her son.

The world would say this is crazy, but she did as Elijah said.

The widow first watered Elijah and then she was watered. She gave a handful and God gave back a barrel full. God did not let her barrel run out nor her oil dry up. They are many days and this poor widow outlasted the famine. I am sure each day as she went in she thought this is the last day we will eat, but the next day there was sufficient provisions. Cast thy bread on the waters and after many days it will come back as we need.

Every need He has supplied. Bless the Lord oh my soul.
